Hi Ma’am,

If I go back to my home country, will they see my 2 years of stay without status? I lost my status in 2016 but I’m planning to go back to my home country. I have been in Canada for 10 years but only lost my status in 2016 or 2 years ago. If I like to come back to Canada, will they see the 2 years out of status? Thank you for your advice.

Lovely Y.

Hi Lovely,

Yes, they will.  However, they will consider the fact that you voluntarily removed yourself from Canada.  As long as you don’t have a removal order, you are okay.

IRCC removal order

However, if you have a standing removal order, depending on the type of removal order, the next time you come back, you will need to apply for an Authorization to Return to Canada (ARC). There are three types of IRCC Removal orders: Departure Order, Exclusion Order (1-2 years bar) and Deportation Order (permanent bar).
Good luck,
