Ontario college OKs IELTS exemption for Filipino students

ielts exemption for filipinosThis is good news to Filipinos who wish to study in Canada but have been apprehensive of the language proficiency test, popularly known as the IELTS (International English Language Testing System). An Ontario public college has approved the IELTS exemption for Filipino student applicants.

The public college offers programs eligible for Post-Graduate Work Permit which is a pathway to Permanent Resident status. International students have two options to attain their PR status after graduation: follow the Canadian Experience Class or the Provincial Nominee Program pathways.

IELT exemption & other benefits

Students who grab the opportunity for IELTS exemption given by this Ontario public college benefit from:

> becoming globally competitive with a Canadian education
> allowed to work part time or 20 hours/week
> may bring your spouse who is automatically allowed to work full time or up to 40 hours a week
> may bring your dependent children who will enjoy FREE elementary and HS education in Canada.
> pathway to Permanent Residency status through Canadian Experience Class or Provincial Nominee Programs

Most Canadian colleges require English language proficiency for international students who attended secondary and post-secondary institutions whose primary medium of instruction is NOT English.  English language proficiency maybe proven by the taking any of the tests: IELTS, Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL), Michigan English Language Assessment Battery (MELAB), Pearson Test of English – Academic (PTE-Academic) and Canadian Academic English (CAEL).

Some colleges accept international student applicants who do not meet the minimum language requirements on the condition that they take English as Second Language (ESL) or English for Academic Purposes (EAP) classes before their intended academic programs.

If you’re considering this option in coming to Canada please send your resume to info@accesspro-immigration.ca so we can assess your work history and education background and match you with a post-graduate program in the college. Please also note that the Canadian government requires proof of financial support or proof of funds to study in Canada.*
