Mushroom farm not accepting Temporary Foreign Workers

There’s so much excitement generated by the news that the high wages and the opportunity to gain permanent residency in Canada is possible by entering the country as a mushroom picker.

Mushroom picking Temporary Foreign Workers CanadaWe did our due diligence to check if indeed Sharon Mushroom Farm is hiring TFW. We wanted to satisfy our curiosity, as well as answer the inquiries of some of our clients if they can come here as mushroom pickers.

Here’s our findings:

Sharon Mushroom Farm is hiring! But only local residents – new hires can be PRs or Canadian citizens.  But, the company IS NOT hiring TFW. We were told that a Labor Market Impact Assessment (LMIA) will not be issued to prospective hires from foreign countries. While they were able to do it in the past, something had gone wrong and management isn’t doing it anymore.

The Philippine Overseas Employment Agency and the Philippine Embassy in Canada have also issued warnings against the false promises of this alleged job for TFWs.  Please beware and do your due diligence. We understand the desperation to get better paying jobs. But paying hefty training and other fees for mushroom picking to the tune of Ca$5,000 will only turn out to be a nightmare. And not the fulfillment of your Canada dream.
