Hello Ma’am,

I’m going to apply for Permanent Residence after finishing my caregiving contract and completing 24 months in the program. However, I don’t meet the required 72 units post secondary education. Can I continue my studies here? What can I do?

Thanks,

Josephine

Hi Josephine,

Education is an eligibility requirement for Permanent Residence after completing 24 months in the caregiving program.

You can check the eligibility requirements for caregivers here:

Eligibility requirements for Permanent Residence

To be eligible for PR you must have completed a Canadian post-secondary degree, diploma or certificate of at least one year, or have completed a foreign degree, diploma or certificate. Your educational credentials must be assessed by any of these organizations:

To meet this requirement you can study here in Canada. If your study program is more than 6 months you need to secure a study permit. Please see a related post here.

You may further discuss your study options with us if you need help in choosing a study program and in enrolling in a school. Access Pro is a partner of ApplyBoard which represents over 40 universities and public and private colleges in Canada.
